he Lindsay Clancy case ended without a verdict after the jury was ultimately deadlocked. Now, the brother of the lone holdout juror has spoken out in defense of his sibling’s decision.

Clancy is accused of killing her three children – 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan – in the family’s home in Duxbury, a Boston suburb, on January 24, 2023.

Her defense has argued that she should not be held criminally responsible for the deaths because she was experiencing severe postpartum psychosis and other mental-health issues at the time. Prosecutors, however, have maintained that she understood her actions and knew what she was doing.

After more than 38 hours of deliberations, the case ended in a mistrial after the jury became deadlocked at 11-1.

But the highly contentious deliberations have continued to have consequences beyond the courtroom.

According to the unidentified juror, his family has been trapped inside their home following the trial because of harassment. His brother has now spoken out, defending the juror’s decision.

“[He] looked at the case, and he made the call,” the brother said, according to UNILAD. “For me, that’s how I would do it. I would just listen to the case with all the evidence, and go from there.”

The juror’s decision has prompted online speculation about possible influences on the vote. However, his brother dismissed claims that religion was a factor, stating: “I don’t think religion had anything to do with it.”

“My family cannot leave the house”

While the vote has been polarizing, he said the fallout has been extreme.

“His choice was good for some people, but not good for other people,” he said, revealing that his sibling’s family has since faced severe hostility.

“My family cannot leave the house. They won’t leave us alone and we don’t know anything. People have been calling me, like, crazy.”

The alleged harassment has reportedly extended beyond phone calls and messages. According to the brother, some people have even gone as far as leaving angry letters outside their mother’s house.

The family was not even aware that his brother was serving on the high-profile case.

“We didn’t know. That’s why I was shocked,” he told the outlet. “He didn’t tell us anything.”

With the jury unable to reach a unanimous verdict, the case remains unresolved. Authorities are expected to provide an update on what happens next on September 29.
